General audience otherkin (or otherkin & therian) message boards

There are very few extant boards these days. Links here are to places that have had at least some activity within the past year (as of February 2025). For defunct and moribund boards, see this page.

Shadowlore is primarily aimed at vampires, but it does have subforums related to otherkin and other "weird" folk. It is something of a relic of a time in the mid '00s when this kind of vampires-otherkin-therians-donors-goths-witches smorgasbord was fairly common (as a look at a Yahoo Groups archive will tell you).

Nonhuman National Park casts a very wide net including all kinds of alterhumans. ("Alterhuman" is an umbrella term coined to include not only otherkin and therians, but also otherhearted, plurals, human vampirics, spiritual/identity furries, soulbonders, and basically anything that is not "standard" human experience.)

Boards with a more specific focus

Elven World is a little on the New Age love-and-light side, and I don't personally agree with equating elves, fae, and Tuatha De Danann as being all the same thing, but some interesting discussions occasionally happen there. "Nature elementals, magical people, multidimensional high adventure, Tuatha de Danann, Soul Star Travelers. We listen to Nature's voice; attune to the song of the Sun, feel the whisper of the Wind in the Trees, fly with the Raven feel the loving touch of Meadow Grasses, and dance through the Sea in the Moon's light. We are kin with all beings on Earth and beyond, in the Stars."

Draconic.com hosts possibly the oldest still-running dragon board.

Draconity.org has a broader focus for those with some affinity with dragons - not strictly a dragonkin/otherkin site.

The Werelist is a therian-specific forum, although otherkin can sometimes be found there.

Dreamwidth and LiveJournal

I moderate otherkin-haven on Dreamwidth, which has moderated membership and all posts are locked to the community. otherkin is a general, open community. (I am only a member there, not a mod.)

otherkinnews, run by Orion Scribner, had a long hiatus from 2017 to 2023 and tends to post only occasionally since then. The posts contain both news about otherkin, therians, and vampires, and items that are not strictly about these communities but may be of interest to their members.

otherkin on LiveJournal, which I co-moderate, was closed to new members and posting in July 2017 but remains up as an archive, with a backup mirror on Dreamwidth at otherkinarchive. (There is no administrative connection between the DW and the LJ communities each named otherkin.)

fictionkind is for fictionkin, fictherians, fictionlinkers, and related things like fictives in multiple systems and soulbonders.

The following LiveJournal communities have been abandoned at least since LJ moved fully to Russian operation, if not before, but they may be of historical interest: _dark_otherkin_, humanfaeries, next_of_kin, once_winged, the_kindred, elenari, fallen_otherkin, fromthestars (for starseeds, aliens, and similar).
